KFC - MicroSoccer
CHALLENGE The FIFA World Cup is renowned for its spectacular fanfare and the array of brand campaigns that come with it. To effectively capitalise on the buzz, KFC South Africa tasked the team to think of an ad that could cut through the clutter and deliver an engaging brand experience. The challenge, however, is that KFC South Africa has no intrinsic link to football. SOLUTION We created a new, tiny football equivalent - Micro Soccer - inspired by KFC's existing sports credibility, their Mini Cricket platform for kids. Collaborating with development partners, the team brought this new platform to life by conceptualising and designing the assets for a gamified AR Filter. To promote initial awareness and explain the AR filter’s mechanics, we enlisted relevant influencers’ help. Then, using image recognition, customers could activate a fun mini-soccer dribbling game on top of their KFC box meal. And with every high score, an eCommerce voucher was revealed!
